Locks for Love- A Love Story
What do little girls dream of? They dream of love. They dream of one day marrying their prince charming. They dream of fairytale endings. Above all, they dream of growing up to be beautiful. In all of these dreams, the one thing that accompanies these little girls is their hair- their very own shield of beauty. Little girls spend hours in front of the mirror brushing their hair and admiring their locks. Whether their hair is short, long, cury, or straight, it is their very own shield of beauty. Everyone remembers getting their first bad haircut. Im talking about boy short and bananna bangs. When we got these bad haircuts we felt ashamed and ugly, but on the bright side, we had our hair. it would grow back.
Kaitlyn spends hours infront of the mirror brushing her beautiful long blonde hair. When her mother would get on to her for not doing her chores she would simply use her hand to fling back her hair over her shoulder. her mother couldnt help but smile at all the attitude in such a tiny person. kaitlyn dreams of being beauitful. She looks at the women on the cover of the magazines; they have such beautiful hair. She knows she will look like them one day.
Lately when kaitlyn brushes her hair she notices she has less and less. She dosent spend as much time infront of the mirror or day dreaming about her fairtale ending. Most of her days are spent in bed and in and out of the hospital. kaitlyn's mother has to take her to the salon and kaitlyn had to shave all of her hair off. She feels ashamed and ugly.
On kaitlyn's birthday she was finally feeling strong after months of hospital visits. She was going to have a birthday party today and she would see all of her friends from school. She put on her prettiest dress, but when she looked in the mirror, what she saw made her eyes water. she cried to her mother and told her she didnt want to have the party, but when her mother let her open her birthday present everything changed. Inside the pink wrapping was a beutiful blonde wig. Today kaitlyn was beautiful.
Many children are going through this. We can help these little girls and women by donating our hair. Its hard to give up our long hair but the reward is worth it. Today Holy came in and donated 14 inches of her hair. She has been growing it for years and she parted with it so she could help someone feel beautiful.
